Consume Less Deliver More

The new year brought with it aggressive ambitions. Hopes of finally publishing a book, contributing to blogs and starting digital side ventures. My mantra, "Consume less, deliver more." That was 2014. It's now 2015 and many of the goals I set for last year were not met. No surprise really...according to the research conducted at the University of Scranton, only 8% of Americans who make New Years resolutions actually achieve those goals.  But I'm not okay with mediocracy. Simply being average doesn't sit well with me.

Although I had many notably achievements, among these a successful career change, leadership roles with non-profits, and an increase in speaking engagements, truth be told, I consumed more and delivered less. This was true for almost all elements of my life especially financially, physically, and mentally.

This idea of consuming less and delivering more is biblical, especially when you add God to the equation. There are countless examples of how God delivered more by consuming little. Jesus feeding 5,000 men with five loafs of bread and two fish. The widow serving Elijah with only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. And God delivering an divinely motivational speech to Moses through a burning bush without actually consuming the bush at all.

I am going to consume less and deliver more in 2015!

To kick start the year, here's a list of what I consumed today:

As for delivering more, let this post and the article I had published on the Central Florida Employment Council blog be my starting point.

Happy New Year!

What goals did you set for yourself this year? How can I help keep you accountable?
